Hi I have a 16.2 9yr old TB gelding. He is currently fed on A+P Calm & condition & Mollichop calmer ( 1stubbs scoop of each twice a day ) + ad lib hay.

He is in at night and out in the day as we are trying to preserve the grazing as it has become quite sparce.

He has started to drop of a bit of weight now so I am thinking that I probably need to either change or up his feed ? Creeals don't really agree so I don't want to give him mix

Any suggestions gratefully received thanks

I find Fibrebeet much better for condition.
How about giving him haylage as apose to hay? i find TB's dont fair very well on hay.
Then maybe think about giving him some Fibrebeet instead of Calm and Condition. Its soaked in the same way as Calm and Condition but id soak with warm water as it doesnt soak as quickly with cold. Id be inclined to add oil too.
Hope this heps

If the Calm & Condition seems to suit him, then probably best to stick to that and add some micronised linseed to it. I would be tempted to change the chaff to a higher calorie one such as Alfa A Oil or Readigrass.

As suggested above, haylage will probably put on more weight than hay. If you can't change to haylage, then perhaps give him a big tub of Readigrass or soaked grass nuts alongside his haynet overnight, to try and get more forage into him.
