I have a 5 yo Welsh Sec D 14.2 Gelding, He lives out 24/7 and is worked 2-4 times a wekk and i lunge him or gently ride him.
He is currently fed:
1 1/2 Round Bowl Scoop of Regular Molasses Chaff
1/2 Round Scoop of Pasture Mix

He is quite a good doer and gets hay aswell but im wodering if he is on the right amount or on he right food all together , Many Thanks, MidnightMarlie :)

My thoughts on that diet is that its high sugar/starch for a native and probably isnt balanced for vits/mins.

I would swap for a low sugar chaff and cut out the mix, and add a vit/min supplement.

Always feed to condition too- so if hes fat then cut down feed or thin then increase it.

Ok Thank You , I did forget to mention he is on globalvite from global herbs
He is Adverage weight at the moment but i am considering changing the diet :) x

I have a 5 year old highland who is also a good doer. I don't feed him any cereal or molasses as it 'fries' his brain :) He exists on hay and a variety of molasses-free chaff, with speedibeet or fast fibre when very cold. He also has a vitamin and mineral supplement. He does really well on this.
