Feed advice

Milly could do with putting on some condition, so following advice from Baileys I put her on Baileys No. 4 which changed her calm self dramatically into a spooky, generally crazy horse. So, not good! I feed her hay ad lib, but was wondering if perhaps she would benefit from haylage instead? The less hard feed I have to give her, the better.

Haylage vs. Hay basically!
 
Haylage is supposed to give more energy and protein than hay but I don't if it will impact your horse.

I have heard from others that Bailey's No4 creates monsters out of angels!
 
I would add oil to existing feed before you changed it, calories without fizz

You could give some unmollasses sugar beet and/or Spillers high fibre cubes

What were you feeding before ? and how much

I was giving her ad lib hay and 3 pounds of the No. 4 cubes, which is about a scoop and a half I think. I also add 50mls of cod liver oil to her feed. I contacted Baileys about advice and they said I'd to increase it to 6 pounds, which is massive for a 15hh in light work. So I increased it to 4.5, and she is now a monster. I'd be happy giving her 2 pounds tbh, with something else. She's a cob cross, but doesn't keep weight easily.

I'd change to soya or sunflower oil you can feed quite alot of oil, a mug in each feed if they'll eat it, and add some unmollassed s/b
