I have a riding 7 yr old sports horse, event bred but we did a lot of showing last year.
Due to my redundancy, she had to winter out this year and had a couple of months off.
She is not skinny but is lacking in muscle and condition. She is currently on nuts, chaff and sugar beet and ad lib hay. I am thinking of a feed change to add condition. Baileys cond cubes and outshine. Any thoughts? Better suggestions?

Hi. I believe it is better to keep activity ahead of nutrition, so to up the feed to conditioning nuts or something once the amount of exercise and training is increased. This helps to prevent the system from being overloaded with nutrients that it doesn't need and can't use. Good luck :)

My horses have just had their first full winter living out. My 22yr old TB has lost a lot of condition although she is not skinny. I added Omega Rice (rice bran and linseed) and Veteran Vitality to her molasses free hifi, speedibeet and high fibre nuts and she has really picked up. Obviously work is key to building muscle and top line but I feel the Omega Rice has given her a little more bulk to enable her to cope with her return to light work.
