Is anyone able to help me as I’m a bit lost with how many different things are on the market - having previously had to manage horses living on dairy grass I’ve now got the opposite problem!

#1 I have a retired TB who drops condition over winter but is usually manageable. She’s started to drop condition sooner than I’d expect this year despite the milder weather which I’m slightly worried about. Dentist due ASAP but she’s eating normally so I’m trying to figure out what else might have upset her. She’s incredibly fussy and it doesn’t take much to put her off her feed. Last year she stayed up to weight on just hay + speedibeet with bog standard own brand pony nuts - I’ve tried all sorts before (oils, chaffs, grass nuts etc) and she’s gone off them all but she’s still eating this speedibeet combo.. I can’t imagine it’s very calorific though. Obviously this winter this isn’t going to cut it - what can I feed her that will stuff her full of calories without it being a meal - she goes off her food so easily ?‍♀️ She can also get hot to handle with alfalfa and/or high sugar. don’t want to break the bank.

#2 I’ve been recommended redmills ultra for my PRExcob who’s a good weight but will be stepping up a gear work-wise now and needs a bit of extra support to build muscle/keep the energy up. Apparently it’s a good option as it’s low in sugar/starch but high in protein. Are there any other minerals I should be adding to this feed or is it complete? Struggling to find full nutritional info online/ understand what is available.

I’m happy to help you do a nutrition plan for both. I specialise in rehab and work with a vet nutritionist to create nutrition plans for every horse that walks through my door. Ping me a pm - I’d be happy to go over it all in detail for you. ?

Equijewel you don't have to feed loads and I have fed it to quite underweight horses with good results, never known horses to get silly on it and I've used it on various types Warmblood, TB and Arabs.
