Morning,

I'm just after any advice and experiences on feed.

I have a TB Gelding ex-racer. When I bought him, he was in extremely poor condition.

The previous owners had him on Allen and Page Calm and Conditioning, Baileys No4 and Pink Mash.

I kept him on this and built him back up. Over the year that I have owned him, he looks an entirely different horse. However, during the summer months when he wasn't on his feed, just grazing with the odd bit of hay. He was a much calmer horse. Now that he has come in for the winter and is back on feed, he has been acting out of character and is really quite fizzy. I have had him checked for everything teeth, back etc with no issues.

I spoke with someone from the local equine shop who has done nutrition course and has plenty of TBs herself and has found Baileys No4 makes alot of TBs a bit nutty but A&P C&C was fine. However, I've heard from a few people that A&P C&C has also made their TBs a bit bonkers.

He had impaction colic last year, so he needs a mash type feed. So, I was recommended to keep him on A&P C&C but also use Dengie Healthy Tum and Baileys Low Cal Balancer.
He isn't the greatest doer. Hes currently only in light work.

Any advice and experiences would be appreciated.

I have added some pictures of what he looked like when he arrived and now.

TIA.

Healthy Tummy is Alfalfa which is known to cause issues in some horses. C@C also sent my pony a bit loopy so I’d change that personally.

I’d find a grass based chaff and then ask Allen & Page what they recommend. I really liked Soothe and Gain, but it doesn’t sound like you need extra condition.
