My mare is a good doer, feed is more for supplements. Saying that, she is a perfect size at the moment.

Currently fed:
  • Dengie Healthy Tummy chaff (scoop)
  • Vitamin E (4,000IU day due to restricted grazing)
  • Equimins powder balancer
I’ve just bought a sack of micronised linseed.. and will give her a small amount a day for the omegas.

My question is. Cost wise. Does she need the Equimins balancer? I know the healthy tummy is ‘balanced’ but fed at a huge volume a day. She looks super at the moment and been on Equimins for 5 months.

Thank you in advance.

I've fed progressive earth balancer for years. Needed to save money this winter so stopped it.
This winter I've had to deal with 2 abscesses. In my previous 30 years of horse ownership I've only ever dealt with 2 ever, can't help feel it may have been he was lacking something.
Other horse hasn't come out of winter looking as good as normal ( they both live out 24/7)
Balancer restarted now 🙂
