My boy currently gets D&H Ultimate Balancer and brewer's yeast, but as I'm on livery and don't mix feeds myself I'd rather by an all-in-one if I can to make YO life easier. I'm trying to find something but am not having much luck. I want the yeast for condition, and the balancer for the condition and hoof and skin nutrients (TB Feet). Would Biotal work?

Ultimate Balancer actually contains Yea-Sacc which is a natural yeast culture which according to the blurb 'supports a stable environment in the hind gut, encouraging the number of cellulytic bacteria to maintain optimum fibre digestion.' So you probably don't need the Brewer's Yeast alongside it as well.

You're right, I discovered that this morning after putting up my post. So how come the BY has made such a difference to his condition? Could it just be sheer coincidence?

I looked into this a little while ago because I was a bit confused too!!! From what I could gather the Yea Saac in the balancers is usually a live strain (i.e. a friendly bacteria type thing) and brewers yeast is not live (but is high in B vitamins).... so they do have different effects....

I feed a balancer (pink powder) for general condition, good digestion etc and additional brewers yeast cos my horse tends to be a bit sweet itchy... he is in regular work, has no hard feed and is looking great so I'm going to carry on with it!!

Good luck in your search, let me know if you find anything!!

It may be the amount of yea sacc in the balancer - check what is actually in it - some feed supplements add ingredients in small amounts so that it can be on the label and look enticing for the buyer - but not enough to actually make much of a difference - Our liquid feed balancer has 33% prebiotics in it - which is the right amount to make a difference.

Top spec balancer has complete hoof supplement inc in the balancer.I have tb he has been on this for 3 weeks the farrier came today and was surprised at his hoof it never grows and this time they had to trim.

I was thinking of the pink powder as a friend feeds that to her horse and recommended it to me.

I'll keep you posted if I find a wonder-product. Somehow think it unlikely
