My vet has just recommended I start my laminitic pony on a feed balancer. Has anyone used one of these they would like to recommend? I thought a low calorie version might be best because he isn't ridden and has a tendency to get chubby.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. I have used top spec feed balancer in the past. I found it gave me great results. It has all the vitamins and minerals required, plus a probiotic to help with digestion.
Top spec have a website detailing all their products, and an advice line.
There is a balancer on there suitable for leisure horses.

Mine, Shettie who's had lami and a very good doer NF, have Blue Chip through the winter and Blue chip lami light in the late winter/spring. I swear by the stuff!

Baileys No 14 (Low Cal). It will do the job & is about £14+ per bag cheaper than Blue Chip.

I use lo-cal. It seems nice enough but he's still licking the soil, so either its not providing enough mins for him, or he has a soil addiction

Baileys Lo-Cal for 3 of mine, 2 Lami ponies in there as well.

Chex, one of mine licks the soil, same diet as the rest but addicted to licking the floor *sigh*

We use Top Spec Anti Lam. In comparisons with all the low cal balancers around it had the broadest and most comprehensive range of vits and mins in it. Our horses look great on it.
