My RID mare is currently on Happy Hoof, Hi Fibre cubes, equi bites and haylage but I think she's getting bored with the HH and cubes ? Her coat isn't as good as normal for this time of year so I was wondering if a feed balancer with Happy Hoof or another chaff might improve it?

She's a good doer and doesn't need more energy

Also, if you use a blancer which one has made a difference to your horse?

Hi Tiffany, my ID looks brilliant on Top Spec balancer & it hasn't made him any sharper - if anything he's calmer than normal. I started off with AntiLam in the summer but in the winter he drops off weight so I moved him onto the Comprehensive balancer but he's been great on both - they now do a Lite version that's cheaper but I haven't tried that.

I started with the AntiLam because of foot problems & needing to get some weight off him. I can honestly say his feet are better now than they've ever been & I've had none of the borderline psychotic behaviour that happened with another well known balancer!
 
Why do you think your horse is getting bored with what she is on? Is she leaving some?

I don't use a balancer, but I have one of my good doers on Bailey's Everyday High Fibre Cubes (used to be called Economy Cubes) and her coat is fantastic, presumably because of the linseed oil in it. I used to give her Spillers High Fibre Cubes with added oil for coat shine, but since she has beenon the Bailey's cubes I haven't needed to add extra oil.
 
Yeh she's leaving some of it and she's literally only on a handful.

I was thinking of trying Top Spec Lite because she's a good doer but don't know anyone who uses it?

i would go for something like hifi plus a balancer
i use the baileys stud as its really cheap, you only have to feed a small amount and it makes them look great!plus ive only got 3 feed bins

i use the oil chaff for ones needing abit more help with weight.
 
My mare who's turned away at the moment was on lo-cal but have just swapped to the top spec lite one two weeks ago so will see how it goes. It's that bit cheaper than lo-cal so hey thought it can't hurt. To be fair to lo-cal, my mare looks pretty good on it.
 
I have my Welsh D x TB on TopSpec Lite and she look great on it, not weighty, just right and have just changed one of my TB's too it as she was a little on the FAT side and also was getting a bit bored of her feed, so though with the smaller amouts that she is getting she would find it more enjoyable too.....Coat looks really good on the Welsh X, really nice shine to it and healthy looking.

My lot all get Hi-Fi original, Kwikbeet and Top Spec and they all look good on it. Very shiny! And that's ranging from two 3 year olds, a 6 year old warmblood who's eventing, a 7 year old ISH who's eventing and a 28 Highland x mare.

Only one of them that gets a bit extra is my 6 year old as he's a sensitive soul and drops weight easily so he gets Top Spec Cool and Condition cubes too.
