Have recently put my young mare 4 and ridden on Baileys Lo Cal only a small amount with Hi Fi Lite but she is so on her toes not sure whether its the feed or change in weather anybody else tried this feed. Will give it a week or two. She is a big Holsteiner and have keep hard feed to a minimum as it tends to heat her up but looking for something to keep a bit of weight on her. Have also tried Calm and Condition which is great for my TB but no her. Your comments would be most appreciated as this is the first time I have used a balancer.

Baileys Lo Cal hotted both of mine up, ok one hots up very easily but the other is normally a very sensible lad! I found the Top Spec balancers worked far better for us & now I wouldn't use anything else. I feed them with chaff, if I need more condition I add TS Cool Condition cubes.

Top Spec seems to the the No 1 choice around. The only reason I chose Baileys is that the old Gro N Win was brilliant for my youngsters as babies.

I have fed baily's low cal with no fizzy effects at all. Highly rated the low cal. I wouldnt thinl low cal shouldn't make your horse fizzy but you know never know, I can't feed my very laid back cob course mix, few days on that and he's like a bottle of pop!

Lo-cal fizzed up my TB big time so put him on Top Spec lite an he is great on it, condition wise and temp wise.

The Low Cal doesn't affect any of mine, but it could be the cause of your problem.

What not try a powdered supplement instead? There's loads about, both for general supplementation and for more specific supplements.

I use Baileys Lo Cal & have had no problems with it. I tried Calm & Condition with one of mine & it did the opposite, he was bolshy, fizzy an absolute nightmare. I realised that it was the barley in it that was causing the behaviour change so I took him off it & put him on Ride & Relax. He is now back to his old self, he's lovely to handle, has loads of energy for his jumping without the fizzy behaviour. I'd recommend Ride & Relax, it certainly worked with my Hann x TB.

I have fed lo-cal to my very fizzy pony and also several others with no problems with heating up[, every horse is different though so it could be the cause of your issues.
