Hi all,

I am thinking of putting my mare onto a feed balancer, but haven't used one in a while.
She was a fairly spooky and bucky mare, so is on Global herbs frisky mare and Allen and Page's ride and relax which has given me a totally different horse. She is rising 5 and lacking in muscle condition and I was wondering if anybody had any opinions as whether to use feed balancers or not?
I don't want to fizz her up at all, but she is in need of some top line.

I only feed balancers - on their own. And all mine look well from 3 - 30yrs
Correct schooling and work will help with the top line and you can always add something if they need it, but if there bucking and very lively then dont give any more feed train the mind well try lol

i used NAF pink powder as a feed balancer for my mare over the winter. she was just on a basic mix and alfa A and didnt get loads because she gets it more as a treat than needing it for weight or energy. but i wanted to make sure she was getting the things she needed so i ussed the pink powder as it seemed one of the cheaper options and it was BRILLIANT she looks fab over winter and has gone out now for summer still looking fab :) so it worked well for me , obv all horses are different but id say its worth a go.

Baileys No 4 conditioning cubes are supposed to be very good for building up muscle and condition. Might be worth talking to them about her maybe? We feed Top Spec balancer to our horses along with Top Chop Lite chaff and they do really well on it.

I'd definately recommend blue chip. The difference in my horse was amazing. It helped her gain weight, as it has magnesium in it will probably help with her Spooking. Also helps improve general condition.
