Hi my boy has been having fast fibre and he hates it! He picks the carrot out and then leaves the rest, I am throwing it on the muck heap. He really enjoys a 'cube' feed so taking into account he has low level cushings and he is a good doer, out during the day and in with soaked hay in the evening and he is 17, although you would not think it!!, what would people feed, he has soya oil, mic linseed and Dengie coat and hoof vitality in his feed so I am wondering whether to just go back to a handful of Pegasus nuts morning and evening with maybe a handful of chaff to mix the supplements into. What do people think?

Tried mixing in some chaff and mint etc but still no go!!Not sure about sugar beet, he has never had it so not sure if it will send him loopy as he does not tolerate mixes very well.

speedi beet shouldnt send him loopy noonoo as its unmollassed Id try some first though if you can as my older boy (who is a real gannet usually) is very 'meh' about his speedibeet.

are you sure its definately the fast fibre? I know some can be fussy over soya oil or micronized linseed?

Im considering putting my older boy on saracen shape up as its a balancer but made a bit more like a mix so would be a lot more palatable? Sounds suitable anyway and then perhaps you could drop the oil and linseed instead? http://www.saracenhorsefeeds.com/leisure/74-shape-up-balancer

Nothing wrong with good old pegasus cubes. They did as good a job at keeping weight on my tb with digestion issues (she was very skinny) as conditioning cubes

If he is a good doer why does he need anything other than fibre and a good balancer/supplement? Save yourself some $$ and keep your horse feed simple and as close to natural as possible. Oils and concentrates are for horses who can't maintain condition on fibre alone.
