Hi All,

sorry had posted in NL but this may be more apt!

Little man is not the most forward going in school - it is more an attitude rather than anything else but thought I'd pose the question anyway.

He is on D&H comp mix - just light work and around 2.5 kg per day\(small handfull chaff), dollop of cod liver oil, with ad lib hay
He just feels as though he has no oomph/go/energy to him.
He can feel/get better after he has had a strop and we get some more energy there - but dont want to have a strop each time to get the energy.
I do think its just him, still young not really off the leg and unbalanced etc but if any one else has had a similar type (pretty laid back) how or what do you feed and has it worked.

been thinking of the Allen and Page power and performance or the D&H performance concentrate as this has also slow release in it as well.

The comp mix is a fast release.
any advice gratefull for.........

I have the same problem with my 5yr old. I think it's a characteristic of youngsters, however, I took the view that if he had a little more energy from his feed at least schooling wouldn't be a battle. However, I still make sure I keep things interesting - lots of transitions, changes of direction, going to bring some single poles out soon as well. Also I make sure he gets hacked out plenty as he enjoys that more.

In terms of feed I've just added some Alfabeet to his bucket feed. It's slow release energy but it seems to have given him a bit more bounce but in a good way. I'd be interested to hear what others suggest though as I think I'll need something more for him when he starts jumping and doing harder work. I'd also looked at Power and Performance - Allen and Page feeds are always nice quality and seem to do what they say.

At the risk of getting shot down again, there was a post last week asking about D&H Performance Concentrate.
I said my mare has been having this for several years and loves it, she is a bit of a fussy feeder.
Somebody then posted that they had heard it was rocket fuel. But in my experience its not rocket fuel (but each horse is different).
My mare is a good doer so Performance Concentrate is ideal, as it is supposed to give sparkle without putting on weight.
