My mare is feeling a bit flat at the moment. I'm not sure if it's due to the crap grass, or perhaps now she is working more she is lacking something.

I currently feed topspec lite chaff (1 scoop), baileys performance balancer (2-3 mugs) and a dash of salt, split over 2 feeds a day. I'm pondering if there is something I can give her to encourage a bit more energy?

I’ve had a couple of people suggest oats, or D&H slow release museli, but I’m not really sure where to start.

She’s ridden 5 times a week, a mix of schooling / jumping / polework. She is usually quite a forward responsive little mare but recently I feel like she could do with a bit more pep!

Grass pellets are a cheap and easy way of adding a bit more pep, especially if you think she's usually more responsive when she's on decent grass.

I am a massive fan of oats but having taken on a horse who cannot tolerate the starch content at all, I've had to look for other ways to add pep and a few grass pellets really help (& with my sugar intolerant one, it really does just need to be a few as well!!)

What are grass pellets like for weight gain? She's quite a good doer so I'm keen to not pack on extra pounds!

D&H do a performance museli designed for low intake for fatties. You could probably do an easy swap with the balancer for a bit more pep
