my 17.2 can be extremely fussy. he will really only eat what he wants and has historically left huge amounts of feed. i do however now seem to have solved it. i use a small saucepan the size bigger than a milk pan as a measure (sorry not very technical i know but it works for me). i used to feed a saucepan full of happy hoof, half of spillers high fibre nuts and a handful of showshine chaff plus splash of sunflower oil, salt and equine america kentucky joint supplement and lots of carrots with water. at one point i used speedy beet but he won't touch that in the summer. i have recently cut the happy hoof in half and given him half a saucepan full of bailey's ease and excel - oh my god - what a difference - there are some feeds that he doesn't finish up but generally he is actually eating up. i have been really impressed. he does have three/ four feeds a day and at 23 looks better than ever. really can recommend you try it
