Just wondered if anyone had any feeding suggestions for a JRT.

He can be a bit aggressive but it is more anxiety than anything and just seems nervous and we just wondered if it was worth trying a different feed...so basically are there any feeds available that have calming properties or that others have had success with ?

What's he on now? You could try something with lower protein?

Burns is good? Or wet food - natures harvest or naturediet - with wholemeal mixer?

Basically any good qual food without lots of additives/ sugar would also be good?

I feed my dog Raw/ natural - but that is my choice and isn't for everyone - highly recommend it tho!

He is currently on Skinners Field and Trial (and not in large quantities as well as he can get porky!)

It says it is 18% protein- tbh as mum sorts out the feeding of the dogs i have not looked too see whether this is high or low in comparison to others - however i do know mum has looked at others and said they are much higher.

Would prefer a biscuit/mealy type food if possible.

Don;t get me wrong hes not a nasty dog and are not blaming the food but wonder if something else is worth a try.

Boris is my 2 year old bog standard JRT, He gets half cup of burns in the morning, half tray of nature diet in the evenings, I would have liked to give him naturediet in the mornings but he won't eat breakfast unless he's hungry hence have burns in a bowl for him when he wanted to eat. Burns is good but Boris gets terrible consipation so he can't have as one food! typical. He also gets oily fish on sundays along with burns.

He's very fit, calm dog, just started Agility.

I will mention it to mum and see what she thinks- might be worth a try.

As i said it is not us trying to blame the food but just wondering if it was worth trying something new.
He is a very complicated dog

Thistle - i shall have a look later as i am off work today - normally not back from work until gone 6.30
He has been wierd ever since he was a puppy...the first couple of days of having him (8weeks) he just HATED some people would not let them touch him or go near him and would try and jump out of their arms but was fine with others - and there was nothing about these people in common.

He is still like that and takes an instant dislike to some (most) people but okay with others and is more scared than in your face agressive- all teeth and no trousers generally.....he makes loads of noise and hackles up but if someone goes towards him he will run the other way - can be very much the same with other dogs too. Even my grandad who comes in at least once a day still gets barked at even when he knows who it is (ie in the same room)

Maybe partly our fault he does not go out that often and meet other dogs but then in the summer we take him out to horsey events in the lorry (which he loves) and he is generally well behaved. Even when we got out lab puppy home he was TERRIFIED of him would not even be in the same room just cowered in his bed (get on fine now)

If say my brother and dad are messing around/play fighting...or someone runs through the house or children scream etc he will go mad and chase them.

But then he will curl up on our laps as quite as a mouse and you would almost think it was a different dog.

Mum and dad have had a few jack russells and they really have never known one like it.
He is incredibly intelligent and picks up on things so fast....and loves to play

Welcome to any suggestions - although it is really hard to descrive him over the internet! I will try and asnwer any questions to make light of him!
Heres a few piccies

Thats the thing there is no pattern...either men or women - people he knows well or not makes no difference.
He has been like it from an early age rather than it developing over time.

He is very cute
