My 8 year old Sec D doesnt really keep weight that well, unless its mid summer in which case she can look like an Aberdeen Angus Bull in the space of 24 hours:o

She is currently on adlib hay, safe & sound chaff with forage plus balancer and linseed. My RI feels I should probably be feeding her something else.
Im not keen on speedi beet as she seem pretty wired the last time she was on it. Any suggestions? Thanks.. this was her today

What do you think? why does your RI think she needs something else? She looks a good weight to me.

My 20 and 22 year old natives get by on a bit of FF, linseed and oats, you don't want them putting on weight now, in fact now is the time to start leaving those rugs off and cutting down on the bucket feed!

I think she looks absolutely fine - I'd be reluctant to have any more weight on her coming into spring.

I've been doing that online equine nutrition course and sugar beet pulp is constantly being promoted as a good source of fibre and nutrients so I'd maybe look into that if you feel you need to feed something - otherwise, just plenty of forage and a balanced vit/mineral supplement.

She looks a really good weight to me and if she has enough energy for the work you are doing/want to be doing then I'd leave well enough alone to be honest
