My friend is starting to increase her tb mares work load and is a bit confused as to what to up her feed too.
She is now lunging once a week schooling 3 times and hacking 3 times. The schooling is a mix of flat and jumping and the canter work is increasing.
She is currently on scoop of safe and sound, linseed, garlic and oestress and hay when she comes in in the morning otherwise she lives out 24/7.
She can be fizzy and a little spooky so don't want anything heating but thought it would be an idea to ask on here and see what all you lovely knowledgeable people suggest :)

Why does it need to be changed? If you're worried about calories maybe some extra oil? If she's very fizzy, perhaps feed hifi molasses free, no sugar but high oil content, it is designed for fat horses, but like all feeding guidelines they are only an example, or maybe some micronised linseed for the condition. If you want a hard feed to add, I cannot recommend calm and condition enough, does exactly as it says!

Again, why change it? but if you have reason to then this is what I feed my TB mare (ex p2p) who can be fizzy/anxious:

Allen & page calm & condition
Dengie Hi Fi Mollasses free
Feel Good 30 Supplement - garlic, linseed oil, parsley oil
(I also feed equine america's magnitude - pure magnesium supplement)

I find hard food keeps weight on but I do need to give her decent amounts in winter when cold etc. I find the feel good supplement provides garlic for respitory/flies and oil aspect gives my mare a lush sheen to her coat.

Steer clear of horse and pony nuts/similar - you dont know whats exactly in them and even small amounts can tip my mare over the exciteable edge!

Hope that helps
