I’d just feed an ulcer cube, they are high oil low starch, most of the main brands do them
A&P calm and condition is basically unmollassed beet, wheatfeed and linseed, but speedibeet and linseed will probably be a more cost effective solutionThe y.o suggested A&P calm and condition. Or speedibeet and linseed so I've opted for the latter as I've heard lots of issues around C&C.
Can I ask why. He was scooped clear for ulcers?I’d just feed an ulcer cube, they are high oil low starch, most of the main brands do them
Urm - because they aren’t just for ulcer horses. They are a good feed for any horse either working or needing condition maintenanceCan I ask why. He was scooped clear for ulcers?
She's been giving him 2 x scoops a day, he was having 6 handfuls between two feeds with me but also had speedibeet and linseed pellets, snackaball with nuts and hay during the day whilst stabled day and out at night this time of year. He maintained his weight. Is he on the same amount of healthy hooves now as he was when he was at your yard?
Ok sorry, I didn't understand sorry! I don't think there necessary tbh and it would be very expensive as you need to feed on top of a balancer according to their website.Urm - because they aren’t just for ulcer horses. I know I'm lucky, I wasn't sure if she'd think I was being a bit demanding but she offered to do it! She's a good egg. We will see how he gets on with that. I think winter will be hard on him, I'm going to have to buy some more rugs I think. If your YO is happy with speedibeet and linseed then that's pretty good - I've been on yard where they soaked an enormous bucket of beet (the 24 hour molasses stuff) and everything got a scoop of that am and pm. It was really easy for the yard staff.
Otherwise I used the both the Spillers and Baileys veteran mixes last year. Think Spillers was my preference and it kept weight on ok when there was no grass last summer.
