I need some feed ideas. I need a mix of some sort that contains minimum calories and that won't fizz my horse up. She can't seem to handle pony nuts or pasture mix for some bizzare reason. She doesn't need any weight or condition on, it is purely to liven her feed up. She is on Safe and Sound atm but she just isn't finding it appetising. Ideas please?

Thank you, I might try that. I have tried mint powder and carrots so far but will deffo try the apple juice. I am getting annoyed with beastie because she is just chucking the food everywhere and not eating it all. Why have I bothered buying suppliments?!

Carrots, apples, swede?

If she previously ate it but has become fussier might be worth getting her teeth checked, but also bear in mind that alot of horses go off their hay/feed as the yummy grass starts coming through :D

How about Lo-Cal (Baileys I think) with a bit of Hi-Fi lite or similar? Good idea about the apple juice etc too! Means you wont have to worry about swapping over feeds or wasting any that you already have.

If she doesn't need weight or condition, and fizzes up easily, does she actually need any hard feed at all? A lot of good doers can do very well on hay and grass alone.

Mine is a very good doer and fussy eater too. He won't eat a lot of the low energy feeds like HiFi lite. But I found he loves Spillers Cool Fibre. Very low in energy etc but has mint and a few nuts chucked in to make it interesting. He only gets a little bit as a token but enough so I can add any supplements. That would probably suit your pony.

Thanks for your ideas guys. I will definately try some of those ideas.
TGM - If she could do without hard feed then I would let her but she is on devils claw and arnica at the moment for a torn muscle in her bum. She also needs buteing before I work her so she does need the hard feed. This also means that I can't work her that hard hence the low energy ideas needed. She is on oats when in full work so obviously the Safe and Sound isn't as appetising :p
The Spillers Cool Fibre sounds like a good idea. I did look into the Low Cal too but its a bit on the pricey side :s
Thanks guys :)
