hi,
im looking for a feed or supplement which i can feed my pony to make her mad, she gets too fat on mixes and is currently on oats. but i need the extra buzz

what does anyone recommend?

thanks for any suggestions :)

Why do you want to make your pony 'mad'?

If feeding oats aren't giving her energy and she is well in herself (not overweight or any health issues) and fit enough for what you are asking her to do, then you may well have to accept that it is your pony's temperament and that you might need to change ponies if you want something with a bit more energy.

hi,
she does have energy on oats i just needmore energy like some people feed red cell or staypower museli or competition mix

just any suggestions on feed or supplements that people have tried which they have found have given their horses more energy

thanks

Make sure you have her feed balanced with vitamins and minerals, if you have a regular work regime she will increase in fitness week by week, there is nothing to be gained by pouring oats in to a pony if it is well behaved but you want one which is more fiery.
You can do it harm eg by laminitis, which happens if ponies are put on rich pasture but also if fed rich feed.
Each horse has its own temperament, and you have to accept that if it is well behaved, fit and fun to ride, you have a star.

I echo what mrsd123 says, a good balancer fed at the recommended levels along with the correct fitness regime will see your pony reach a level of energy that is correct for her, I recommend baileys local balancer but you must feed it at the right levels, having the right balance of nutrients will mean she can utilise the natural energy from her forage. If you feel she needs a boost then you could try a red cell or naff energy. Hope this helps.

Hi do you keep your pony at livery or have lessons? If I were you I would ask someone who knows your pony and what you are currently feeding him and the type of work you wish to do, perhaps discuss this with your Yard Owner, Yard Manager or Riding Instructor. Is this your 19yr old who had choke? Perhaps feeding him and fizzing him up any further is not the way to go. In order to give anywhere near the correct advice on here, people will need to know what type, age etc your pony is, the complete regime he is on (feed, how much, how often, if he is on supplements) his turn out pattern what work he is currently doing and how often and what work you want to do with him although I would still say that someone knowledgable who knows you and your pony would be far better placed to give this type of advice to you in this instance.

good luck :)

Why do you want to make your pony 'mad'? Is it so you can show off infront of your friends pretending to have a difficult pony? He's 12hh isn't he? Start feeding him to go off his head and you'll likely end up with a pony with acute laminitis.
I suggest you grow up.
