I was just wondering if anybody could provide some recommendations for feeds to increase energy, but without encouraging weight gain or excessive fizzyness? I have always had skinny horses or ones I want to calm down before, but now I have the opposite! Horse is currently in medium work and not in any way overweight, but is a good do-er. Currently pretty fit, but could just do with a bit of an energy boost.

Thanks very much!

How about using a balancer? I used to use baileys lo cal but my feedstore didn't have any in stock so have changed to Spillers lite which is around £8 cheaper too! I finding keeping the weight down really helps but the balancer provides them with essential mins and vits.
I have also used nupafeed staying power for my laid back mare in the past! It definitely gave her more stamina!

Depends what works on your horse, they are all very different as you know.

My WelshxArab is up graded from high fibre nuts to pasture mix for that little extra sparkle with out the fizz, my TB has a mint to do the same!!! lol :D

Can recommend Spillers Slow Release cubes- keep them sensible but with plenty of long lasting energy-sort of bridges the gap between h& p cubes and conditioning cubes- i have one horse on an oat and barley free mix instead just because he likes it,goes well and looks good on it!- that is mainly slow release energy too. If your horse needs more oomph though maybe something like d&h performance concentrate?

There are loads of feeds on the market- maybe see what the feed companies recommend as well and compare. The more energy a feed has - the more calories it will have though, i feed mine less than what they need and top up with a vit/min supp (or you could use a balancer)
