I just make a mess everywhere and leave it (it's how I'm wired! ). Rats and mice don't need to bite open bags when they can pick it straight off the floor ? Free range cats are good too.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all of your ideas. I need something pretty substantial as we do have a few mice.

I have come across these in Australia which I absolutely love! I like the fact they slope down so you can reach the feed and I like the shelf for supplements.
