Feed to boost immune system?????

I bought a horse last week and he has the EHV-1 virush. He's being treated but the vet says it can come back in later life... The best way to help him is to keep his immune system as strong as possible.

What do people recommend in way of feed stuff?

Not sure whether it would help with this particular condition but I have a horse that has lots of allergies, breaking out in hives and she has been helped with equifeasts fightback. This is designed to boost the immune system, worth giving them a call or email, they are very helpful.

Echinacea is supposed to boost the immune system and today I have just picked up Equine America's v biotic which contains that and a lot of other health boosting ingredients but I've not tried it yet so nothing to report!

I've been reading reports on that too! I think I can get my hands on that easily so will give it a go! X

I'd get your feed and forage analyzed, then rebalance minerals and maybe supplement amino acids. Copper, zinc, manganese and magnesium are some key players, as well as arginine and glutamine (two amino acids used to build immune compounds within the body).
