Hi all, need to give my daughters pony a some more energy as hes working quite hard and competing regulary and hes just getting a bit tired. He looks very well and his weight is good . I need something that wont send him crazy as hes a child pony and that wont let him get to fat. Hes currently on chaff, baileys outshine and a general purpose supplement. He goes out regulary and had 2-3 wedges of hay at night and 2 in the day if hes in. Hes not a brill grazing but TBH hes a welsh a pony so luch grazing is his enemy.

Work wise hes competing most weekends showing and showjumping. Hes has PC jump training midweek and gets either hacked or ridden in the school/jump paddock at least an hour daily (shes works him hard in that hour, often he also has a bungee on) apart from 1 day off a week that fits in around shows ect. I also try and lunge him twice weekly on top of that when shes at school in a bungee.

I won at a show, 100 pounds dodson and horrel vouchers so that make would be real handy:);) I was thinking maybe a small amount of the dodson and horrel competition concentrate?? Anybody have any experience of this??

Or any other ideas would be greatfull.
He has been on alfa oil before, that was not good kept bucking, was not in quite as much work but really didnt work for him,

I need a feed like this for J.

Mum rang Dodson and horrell

As Java has energy but doesn't use it when ridden :D she suggested we try the performance balancer first which gives them everything they need

She said it's like you feeling a little lack lustre and once you have some goodness in you you feel better and consequently have more energy

As Java has energy ie he can run round the field and buck etc
So she suggested the performance balancer as it will make him feel well in himself

I was originally told to get a slow release energy (d + h staypower cubes) but she said if I give him more energy he will be more excitable In the field but still might not use the energy when working
Ie he is using his energy In the wrong places
She said try this and after two weeks if no inprovement ( she said for most horses this alone works) then get the staypower

She said most of the top BSJA horse ponies are on leisure/pasture mix as they get the goodness from the balancer so they feel well in themselves

Ring them they are really helpful
Hope this helps sorry it's long!

Not used it myself but my friend has had amazing results with her mare on Allen and Page's Power and Performance. The mare is very, very feed sensitive (goes loopy lou on loads of different types of feed, worst offender was the new 'calming' chaff!) and is cereal intolerant. She also suffers lack of stamina from PSSM. Power and Performance seems to have given her a lot more oooomph whilst still keeping her brain intact.
Also, the few times I've phoned A&P for advice, they have been very, very helpful.

No he's not using his energy elsewhere , he sleeps in his stable and in the field he just grazes never runs around.
I'm keen to try Dodson and horrel first as have £100 of vouchers so may aswell use them but will have a look into power and performance. Must admit have used balancers on horses before and the only thing they did was dent the bank balance so looking for more of a feed. And the competition concentrate said it was good for not gaining weight And that's quite an important factor with him. Going to call some companies Monday to get some across the board opinions.

I used to use allen and page hacking mix. Its in the middle between lesiure mix and competion mix. Gave my tb energy but didn't send him over the top!
