Hey guys,
I have a 1 year old filly who is currently on D&H Mare and Youngstock but now that the winters coming I need something to keep her wait on, what do you guys keep your little ones on? No hate please as I do have some feeds in mind, just wondered what you lot have yours on :)

Mine was on stud balancer at the recommended amounts and when he needed extra calories I added in micronised linseed - good calories without a starch overload. Also good quality hay and haylage ad lib

My 4yr old spent 3 yrs looking like a wanna be rescue case (actually, he didn't, it was just those with fat adult horses thought he was far too thin. sigh). He's now a big solid 4yr old.
Does your yearling actually NEED weight on? They should be lean and a bit ribby looking for a while. It's rare they need anything more than adlib good hay/haylege.

Thanks guys! She looks a tiny bit ribby but at the moment her body's all over the place, her head is huge, her neck is tiny, her body is long and her legs are long. My friend told me she looks too ribby when I think she looks fine for a yearling. I was just worried but I'm reassured now :)

She sounds like a typical yearling! She'll spend the next two or 3 yrs looking like she's been made up of charity shop spare parts. Just try not to look at her until she's 4 ;)
If you're genuinely worried about her weight then get a vet's opinio. I certainly wouldn't listen to anyone who's got fat adult horses!
