I am after a good course mix suitable for a small youngster doing not much work!!! He wont eat chaffs, sugarbeet etc. However he will eat mix. He is currently at grass during the day and stabled at night. The feed cant be high in protein like youngstock mix as minis cant digest it like larger horses. Can anyone recommend a good mix that will provide the necessary vitamins and nutrients he will need that wont be too fattening? Hopefully something that will give him good show condition also.

thanks

The lady I got my minature pony off (and who breeds and shows them) feeds them all the Baileys low-cal balancer which she says is non-fattening but has everything nutient wise that they need in it. However I just give my little guy a mugful of the coarse mix (12% cool mix) that all the other horses get and some cool chaff, which she said was fine for him, but then he's 17!

I'd also go for a balancer - which can be fed on its own or in a little bit of mix. Why not give one of the companies that make them a ring?
How's Inky's ankle biting antics?
