I've got a retired GP dressage horse with a sacroiliac issue. Carsten Skov from the Hampshire Vet Clinic (?) has been recommended by a friend of a friend. I can't find any info on him anywhere and would like some feedback before calling him. Can anyone help??

Yes he is brill. I believe it's a small partnership hence no web site like the larger vet practices. He brings Xray + other diagnostic equipment with him if needed and (I think) has an arrangement with Liphook if a horse needs mega equine resources. Don't know about scaroiliac treatment tho' - that's one thing I've never needed a vet for. Jo X

Yes he also vetted Mouse for me, i was also very impressed, he was there for hours!!

Great vet - he is at Hampshire Equine Clinic in Alton.

Has looked after my horses for years, he worked at Scott Dunn's then.

Highly recommended.

I had him when he was at Scotts Dunn and he is a Fab ! A very professional Vet that does his job in silence and that does not talk until he is finished !!!
Always had a good experience with him !

Without doubt the best vet we have ever had! Totally professional, infinite knowledge and a really lovely guy who takes his time with all of our horses and is not ashamed to spend a few minutes cuddling and chatting to his most nervous patients!

Used him when at Scott Dunns and he was brilliant. Put Sammy to sleep for me and was very understanding. Would highly recommend. Was sorry to see him leave.

I'm going to go against all the other posts here!

It would appear since trying to go it alone things have changed. I rarely find someone with a good word to say about him now.

He conducted extensive work on our horse and after months of changing the diagnosis and in excess of £7000 of work our horse still wasn't right.

In addition to this we have ended up with a massive bill ourselves - not only was using ability to maintain accurate records nothing short of appalling he has been blacklisted by our insurance company for inflating prices. They now automatically place any claim involving him in query. we have had duplicate bills sent that our insurance company have already paid with no evidence to support them not being duplicates.

We have friends moving away from him because of the extreme costs of his visits and other that are struggling with insurance claims because of poor paperwork. One of our friends had standard flu jabs with him and the bill was roughly the same as one from our meeting vets which covered three visits.

Ultimately I wouldn't let him anywhere near any of our horses ever again, it's all about the money and not the care and wellbeing of the horses.

Do not know cs but would be interested when you have a report on the SI and what therapy is recommended have been doing a lot of research into this and a lot of people have used the Bowen Therapy more so in the South have you come across this ?

Carsten is on his own now and does not work with any other group practice, hence the bigger bills.

I have had him since he was with Scott-Dunns and moved with him when he went to Hampshire Equine (would only have him as did not like any of the other vets from that practice)

I find Carsten very approachable and easy to talk to. I often consult with him on the phone and he is happy to drop things I want into my yard for me.

He is also sympathetic and patient, unlike many vets I have met.

I total disagree with Willow and would be interested in knowing which insurance company has blacklisted him.

Like a lot of thing you pay for what you get and if you want the best you have to pay for it.

Interesting Willow that your first post has to be one of criticism.

Again I have never had a problem with his paper work.

As for doing work or advising certain things need doing I have found the opposite. I have a little New Forest pony that has Cushings and instead of saying she should go onto the drug he has advised that as she has never had laminitis, to hold off and use a homeopathic treatment ie the Hilton Herbs "CushX" . This has worked,if I need in the future to use the drug then I will. I also asked about getting a prescription and getting the drug off the Internet. Carsten sells the drug for the same price as I could get it on line.
