I'm currently trying to finish up an assignment and have got to outline the dietary requirements for a 2yr old...

Not quite sure where to start on the bulk to concentrate ratio as never had a 2 yr old before!
Any help appreciated!

Mine is out at grass 24/7 in summer so only gets a handful (literally!) of Alpha A when he comes in to be messed with and in the winter he is in a fold yard with other youngsters and just gets ad lid hay and some carrots. As natural as possible so as not to overfeed and knacker the joints by overfeeding.

I've got two 2-year-olds, a New Forest and a WB (and two yearlings). They're all just at grass at the moment but over the winter they have mare & youngstock mix, Alfa A and ad-lib hay and they all live out all the year round.

in winter they'll be barn kept, with ad lib hay and a handful of alfa a with a vit/min supplement.

My boy is 2 now, over winter he'll be on a supplement of vits and mins, last year in winter he was on happy hoof and youngstock supplement. During ummer he has grass only. Hes a knabstrupper.

My vet advised a basic feed of what Im giving, even though he is only young.

At 2 I feed mine <1kg of Bailey's Stud Balancer daily, throughout the year. In summer they are out at grass full time. In winter the balancer is fed with unmolassed sugarbeet, linseed meal, BOSS and chaff, plus they have access ad-lib haylage. I keep my youngsters on the lean side, and like to see a slight rib when they move.
