My horse is 4 (just) and is in very light work as I am bringing him on / starting to build up his fitness.

I ride 4 times a week max (usually just 3) - and at the mo we're just working in walk and trot. I do one session in the school and 2 / 3 hacks.

He's an irish draft cross and a perfect weight at the mo. Lives out - grass is coming through and he is getting a couple of wedges of hay at night.

I'm currently just feeding him 2 round scoops of hi-fi, with a small square scoop of nuts and an allround vitamin supplement (oilvit) and linseed.

Is this ok or am I missing something important. I'l going to cut down the hi-fi as the grass comes through more too.

If he is happy and in good condition I'd stick with it! Ours was just on alfa a and nuts last summer and was fine til about September and then dropped off a bit so we swapped to calm and condition and he has totally thrived on that! Will finish the sack I have as our grass not really coming through much yet and then may swap to something with less in it - like ride and relax or just a fibre nut!
I di give mine blue chip though as well and if I do say so myself he looks pretty good on it! But would probably look just as good without I'm sure :)
