Hi,

So wondering what people feed their dogs that suffer with allergies?
My dog has seen the vet mutiple times and a dermatologist.

She has been on the Royal canin Anallergenic food to try the elimination food trial though this food hasn't helped her itchiness/ scratching so didn't get back to the re introduction of food, so thinking it may be more towards environmental triggers. However, that being said this is the only food so far that has not made her sick or given her diarrhoea or horrible crumbly poo. Therefore, I do think she could have intolerances and still possibly an allergy to something. I've been on the all about dogs website and got some ideas from that regarding food.

I have asked about allergy testing but I've only been advised to do that if I am going to do the immunotherapy shots.

She has a history of ear infections ( yeast) , does occasionally come out in hives, yeast in certain areas ( armpits and vaginal area), dry flaky skin and does get a green tinged discharge in her eyes ( vet has treated for conjunctivitis).

Currently much improved on Apoquel ( did initially do well on cytopoint but seemed to become less effective over time)
bath twice a week
daily wipe down with clx wipes
Use a natural spray for her skin.

Many Thanks
Vicky

Not sure we are in much the same boat with willow is much better on salmon and sweet potato food but still stinks and gets itchy. Much improved on boswellia but still has some problems. The smell is awful as bathing her seems to make her worse.

We were at the point of trying the hypoallergenic dog food but we find our dog is fine on skinners grain free. It put me off doing the food trial as with a typical greedy lab we would have had to muzzle her outside plus even in the house it would have been very hard to stop her getting any different food, like spillages. The dermatologist said it was pointless unless you did it properly.

We had a Rottweiler who had a variety of allergies/in tolerances but did very well on a Salmon and potato kibble. It's a long time ago, so I can't remember what brand it was but she couldn't eat their other varieties. In your dog's case, I would introduce one of the minimal ingredients kibbles and take careful note of all the reactions.
I used to have a Lab who got skin problems from summer grass but never at this time of the year. Do you use any perfumed products in the house, such as polish/cleaning products etc? If so, I would stop using them to see if that helps.
