i took on an ex trotter and although i will be driving him it wont be anything fast to what hes been used to but i was wandering would i get away with feeding him happy hoof ?? its so much easier for me to have all 3 of my horses on the same feed as i am limited for space in the tackroom at present hes on a balance mix feed an chaff but my other 2 { 1 cob an an old mountain cross pony whos laminitic } are on happy hoof and aplpe chaff .

He'll be fine on Happy Hoof - they are no different to feed than any other horse especially once they are no longer racing

Same principles, Feed according to temperament, size, workload and current body condition.

thankyou for that , i wont ever be driving him like he used to be as i dont know if i will hold him :D although i have been told hes perfect out and listens really well to the voice will find out in a few weeks time .

They can be very strong in a snaffle but you can always drive him in a normal driving bit if he is. I used to drive my ex harness racer to work - was great fun if a little chilly in winter.

cut a long story short , hes from from a travereller family whos original owner is not around so someone esle took over looking after him but they starved him so he was brought to my yard where a young lad took over looking after him but he never really fed him ethier never had the money etc but he did work him until he was stopped by others at the yard as the horse lost so much weight then he got dumped in our field and i felt sorry for him so i took him on along with my 2 other horses its going to be a stuggle but i'd perfer that then see him suffer so i wont be driving him for a while as he needs to gain weight again and i also need to get my harness adjusted to fit him as well , as for lunging him today well that was interesting i got dizzy lmaos. hes very very headshy and doesnt like to be touched to much so i got a lot of work to do with him to win his trust.

Glad he's found a caring home with you now.
If he needs more condition in winter you could perhaps add a little micronised linseed to the Happy Hoof. You don't need much so a bag would last a long time.
