Um Baileys No4, with Alfalfa and speedibeet. Only one feed a day at the moment as he is still out 24/7, when he comes in/it gets colder he'll be on 2 feeds a day.
No hay, still on the grass (what we have left) but will be big baled hay in the field when needed.
As frankie is allergic to mixes he has speedi beet, chaff bread corn oil and vit supliment, boiled barley and linseed in the winter when he starts to loose weight. Aloe vera, Echinecca (sp sorry!) and Global herbs super skratch to reduce any itching (from allergies) Not a particularly nice looking or smelling feed!
I'm currently feeding Allen and Page mixes as I like the fact they are the only ones who declare what is in their feeds down to every last detail, and theyre cheaper! He is getting Sustain and Comp mix light. Then Dengie Alfa Oil, and baileys Lo Cal when on reduced amount of feed (when just dr. and Sjing) He is PN eventing, and gets fed 3x a day at the moment.... he also gets 3-4kg of soaked hay a night
Dodson and Horrell Staypower cubes, hi-fi lite and Soya Oil twice a day. When he is eventing he also gets Baileys endurance mix (no6 think?) and then in the winter Speedibeet as well. He was intro eventing, will now be doing dressage and SJ over winter so wont get the baileys again until he starts eventing again next year.
I don't stick to any particular brand - just choose the products that are suitable for the horses I have. At present feeding Spiller's High Fibre Cubes to two of them and Dengie AlfaBeet, veg oil and micronized barley to the other. I prefer haylage over hay.
Bud (BE N eventing / BSJA) has Calm and Condition A&P with some Happy Hoof, he used to have D&H Staypower Museli but was feeling a bit too well so cut it out, he has two feeds a day, out at grass all day and haylage morning and night.
He also has Formula 4 Feet, Magnesium, Brewers Yeast, Glucosamine and Three Oils at the moment - he certainly wasn't the low maintenance steed i was hoping for
My dressage horse gets Bailey's LowCal balancer and HiFi as his main feed, top dressed with oats if necessary. His forage is hay, adlib. He gets fed twice a day and is turned out from 6.30am till 4pm every day.
At the moment he is having Topspec balancer, topspec conditioning flakes and spillers response instant energy mix. When there isn't much grass/once he's in for the winter the conditioning flakes will be replaced by alfa-a-oil.
Once he's stopped eventing for the winter I'll cut out the mix as well.
He's currently still out 24/7 so no hay but will have hay rather than haylage when he's in.
He events at BE Novice and can't have anything with sugarbeet in.
Mine had no sugar what so ever in his diet as he definitely doesnt need it!
Simple systems lucie bix and purabeet
Magnesium, linseed, brewers yeast and seaweed for his feet and general condition, fed twice a day.
Recently been put onto hay as the hayledge was way too rich and giving him too much enery and it really has made a difference.
at the moment he is out 24/7 and has been all summer and is atm getting a little haylage at night as the grass is not great.
he only gets a breakfast which has some unmolassed suger beet in ( purely as i want to use it up so never more than half a scoop), about 1 scoop of slow release energy mix and a big scoop of Hi-Fi, along with a measure of formula4feet.
Have almost always fed D&H, but is very expensive here so they are PAVO Sportsfit at the moment. Apparently you should only feed up to 4kg a day of it, and I think I may have pushed that a little in the run up to Waregem. Liberty didn't seem to suffer any ill effects but William got fat back legs and then a day or two later went off his feed completely, so I cut it right back for 48 hrs then went back to 3kg a day and he was fine.
Axel's been on the Winergy feed trial and I've just finished the last bag. He's normally on Falcon Feeds Bio Care but I think I'm going to try him on Falcon Feeds Oat and Barley Free mix I saw it at Hickstead it sounds like it will suit him. He is on hay at the moment but I will be using haylage all winter when he's stabled at night.
Hector is on D&H ERS as he ties up, but the others are on soaked oats, alfa oil and a bit of sugar beet and look disgustingly well on it. Our baylage is big bale and doesn't seem to be too much like rocket fuel.
Allen & Page - herbal quiet mix until they're working pretty hard, then competition mix light if they need a bit of extra.
Alfa-A original.
Equilibra 500.
Carrots & apples.
Good hay and plenty of turnout.
Falcon feeds competition mix with a few oats added, Hi-Fi and carrots. Big bale hayledge ad lib. I only feed twice a day although if kept at home I would go for 3 feeds.
Just swapped Lenny. He PN events, competes 3 weekends in four, one day off a week, gallops every 4/5 days, one jumping lesson a week, one hack, and the rest flatwork. He looks good (even if i do say so myself!) on 3x scoops of D & H comp mix a day, one scoop of chaff a day, a scoop of daily vits and mins and a net of haylage a night.
tia is being fed Dodson & Horrel Country Cubes, micronized flaked barley, mollassed alfalfa and linseed oil. She is out 24/7 and will be getting ad lib hay over the winter months too. That's for intro eventing fitness.
I feed Hattie saracens superioats, and saracens biolife feed balancer, and Dengie Hifi Lite. Twice a day and ad-lib hay. She's out 14hours in the summer at night and she's out 9hours during the day in the winter
