Feeding! A poll!!

Have used D&H for a long time.
Old horse has 16+ mix.
Dengie Original for all 3
Oats for Winston
Coligone/MultiVit Pro liquid balancer for all 3.

I use to use D&H Micro Feed or Performance concentrate when horses were eventing and D&H Pasture mix over the winter.

Now I tend to just use Dengie as the base of the feed, the Multivit Pro liquid balancer and then add oats to the feed if necessary - except older horse who needs that little bit more fatty food.
 
I feed D&H, 16 plus to my old retired boy & speedibeet
Pasture Mix to the lively PN (or Intro, not actually got into a PN yet..ballot..) horse.
Competition Country mix to my Intermediate event horse plus Cortaflex. I dont use chaff much as mine have lots of v good quality grass & ad lib hay (not ad lib for Intermediate horse) & none of them are greedy so dont need slowing down.
 
I feed J Baileys no. 6 (endurance mix) 1 scoop twice a day

Alfa oil/hifi (depending on whether he is in field with grass or not) 1 scoop twice a day

Pink powder

Cooked linseed and corn oil

As much hay as he can eat

Love D & H feeds, & use both the pasture mix & build up as appropriate, but the most effective competition mix for a H/W 16yr old working cob has proved to be Spillers instant Response. He's sharp, on his toes, jumping with renewed enthusiasm & happy !!!
 
My dressage horse *snigger* gets -
Spillers Conditioning cubes (was on Slow release but needs more fat).
Allen and Page fast fibre - only in winter when there's less grass/turnout.
Soya sprayed chaff (local brand).

Fed twice a day.

He also gets about 4 sections of haylage a night and is out 9am-5pm most days.

He's quite barley intolerant so I have to be a bit careful with some feeds.
 
Bailey and Sparrow both get 1/2 scoop of hifi good doer and 2 mugs baileys no 14 lo-cal balancer. Sparrow is on a month's propell plus as a precaution as he's had a busy summer. They are both pretty fit; Bailey is schooling twice a week for 45mins, longlining twice a week for 20mins and hacking twice a week for 2hrs, and Sparrow is PN eventing (doing first novice at tweseldown in october

Have just changed ours to Allen & Page Calm and Condition and we're really pleased with the results, the Intro/PN eventer and event pony get that plus Alfa A, oil and speedibeet in winter. At the end of the season I sometimes feed Baileys No1 if anyone is looking lean. The (presently poorly!) Novice eventer who is a headshaker just has Balanced Horse Feeds Riding Club mix and Global Herbs Shakefree. All have been in at night since 1st of Sept, 2 feeds a day, with very large haynets and next summer I'll be keeping in during the day rather than 24/7 turnout.

When he has a reaction he itches really badly to the point that he will take his skin off, this first happened when he was 7. In his 8th year it got worse and he made himself bleed several times, we then invested in a rambo protector (he is now on his 3rd) so he could itch but not break his skin, the winter he was rising 9 we sent him to Willesley for Allergy testing, He was kept in a box for 24hrs with nothing ot eat, no bedding and a bucket of water. then he had a grid of 30 boxes marked (in marker pen) on his neck both sides he was then injected with various things, of the 30 he was allergic to 27! which included smut grain mix (in most horses feed mixes) Allfa A, Hay, Haylege, certain grasses, House dust mites the list goes on!

He then went on a desentisation programme where I injected him with what he was allargic to increasing the dose gradually, about 3 weeks in he had a massive reaction and the vets advised to stop treatment and just manage him as best we can by avoiding (where possible) what he is allergic to.

Feed a straight chopped grass from Aldwick feeds in Bristol with their Alfa nuts - every thing is pure with no sugars etc and a really good price - use this with NAF Haylage Balancer and Superflex for his joints - in at night with ab lib haylage and he looks a million dollars, plus sane
 
Ive totally swapped from my last post.
After speaking to Allen and Page, I now use A&P Fast Fibre and Ride and Relax.
Both horses are looking great and have enough energy for what theyre doing.
I use to feed A and P years ago and liked using their products, however, it became difficult to purchase. Thankfully yard is close to a really good feed merchant.
 
dengie, with spillers comp mix and blue chip pro feed balancer.
normally hay, but if hay is hard to get, we will feed haylage.
feed twice a day.
he events at novice, done a CIC* and a CCI*.
in winter a little bit of hunting, and obvious sj and dressage training.
 
As DA ties up, he events through the summer on Spillers Hi fi nuts & corn oil with hay.

He's needing something extra through winter though & I think I'll go with Outshine.
 
Thread was from 17/18 Sept, BBs. It got picked up again today for some reason!

When eventing (Intro/PN) one of mine is on D&H Staypower Muesli and the other one Baileys no.9 Comp Mix. Both have Hi-Fi.
Now they're in less work they'll both probably stay on Baileys no.13 mix or possibly D&H Pasture Mix, until i start fittening them for next season. Might have to put one of them back on the Staypower if that isn't enough for her to go out and do a bit of SJ and dressage though, will play it by ear and change her if necessary after her break.

I was using Topspec conditioning cubes for a while which were fab for getting weight on her, but worked out very expensive!
 
Feed Allen and Page Calm and Condition, with Alpha A when i bother to buy it....2 feedsat the moment, will go up to 3 once it turns colder.

He has hay when he is in, which isn't much at the moment and hayledge over winter.

He is worked 6 days per week and just about ready to compete again
