I am having trouble deciding what to feed my youngster. He's 2.5 years Andalusian and is a very good doer.

He's currently getting 8 kilos of good quality haylage a day and has been doing well but the last couple of days he's started to get loose droppings. He also seems to be drinking a lot of water compared to his normal amount. (unfortunately I can't feed hay as have quite a bad allergic reaction to it)

He is living in over winter although he is able to wander around the yard with his buddy all day

any feeding advice would be great

I've got an 8 year old very hot PRE who I've had for 3 years. He gets hay and Good Doer and nothing else. He has so much energy I've never been able to tire him out.
I personally wouldn't feed my boy haylage, but understand that you have an allergy and I guess unless you can get someone else to help you then you can't change it. This could be what is giving him loose droppings though.
Also, my boy is bedded on straw and I don't fret if he eats his bed.

We feed our young good doer Top Spec Anti Lam balancer to make sure he gets all the vitamins and minerals he needs. He lives out 24/7 with the rest of our herd and there is still quite a lot of grass so he doesn't get much hay at the moment.

Herts05 - my boy is definitely not 'hot!' he is the calmest horse I've ever owned and he's 2.5 yr old colt

I think maybe he needs a balancer, probably not getting the right vits and mins by just having haylage
