My horse's workload has increased and I want to start him on a general vit and min supplement to ensure he is getting everything he needs. He has a terrible sugar intolerance so will prob just give it to him in a bit of fast fibre- at mo he is only fed hay. Can anyone recommend a good all round economic general supplement? Also has anyone any experience of feeding camomile to a horse for calming properties? particularly if show approaching?

I know a lot of people like pro balance from progressive earth on eBay. I haven't used it myself but feed thunderbrook which is a complete feed so I don't need to add a vit or min supp.

I feed my horse Alltech Lifeforce - and he is doing fantastically on it. He has this, a scoop of chaff, magnitude and cortaflex and he looks (and feels) fab, he's an IDxTB and although a good do-er, before I put him on Lifeforce he was having a couple of scoops of mix daily too. He looks great, is calmer than he used to be and his hooves are in fab condition - what more could you want?

Chamomile is a prohibited substance. It contains Bisoprolol which is a beta blocker. http://prohibitedsubstancesdatabase.feicleansport.org/list.php?q=bisoprolol

Also in the spirit of clean sport, anything that has sedating/calming or energizing effects on your horse is prohibited in competition. Chamomile is known for it's calming properties, there for is prohibited.

Magnesium, Tryptophan and B Vitamin calmers are ok to use, but they will only have an effect if your horse has a deficiency in any of those particular vitamins and/or minerals.
