My mare is currently in work 4/5 times a week with 2 schooling sessions, a jump session, a build up hack (lots of trot, canter and hill work) and then one relaxing hack. She has been keeping her weight on fine but has just started to look a bit too lean for my liking! She is a 16hh thoroughbred, fully clipped but well rugged up (out in the day and in at night). She is currently on 2 large scoops of high fi and a scoop of conditioning cubes as well as 3 haynets a day. What other feeds/supplements would you reccomend to help her build up and maintain her weight and top line? A little bit more energy is fine but no fizz up feeds! Also once the event season has started and she is in ore competition type work what would you reccomending feeding her to give her enough energy and stamina without being silly? Thankyou

I'd try feeding her some form of oil. I feed my eventer/ hunter Soya Oil, and it helps to give her a good top line, & energy, as well as condition, plus a really shiny coat & strong hoofs, but it doesn't make her silly. Sugar beet is something I add to all our horses' feeds, and if fed in large quantities can help them to gain condition/ weight.

When the eventing season starts you can decide if you want to keep her on the oil, or remove from her feed regime.
