I have a 9 yo 13.3 new forest currently weighing 365kg. he is a good weight and you can feel his ribs. Since oct 11 he has had numerous problem with regards to hind lameness, back issues and stiffness issues but with correct vet, physio advice and new lovely fitted saddle the problems are disappearing and he is moving better etc. Now I want help with feed - due to being a fatty native I don't feed him a lot, at the moment he had a handful of hi fi lite chaff and a handful of light work pony mix. He is quite lethargic and lazy (always has been) so im wanting something to give that little bit of umph but nothing too much as he does buck and bronk when excited and something that will help with muscle development (very weak back end) but not make him fat. I read about micronised linseed oil but is prone to making them fat?

Any helpful ideas please :D
