Have just acquired a little rescue dog. Was an unplanned thing but little guy has had 4 homes in 2 weeks, so is staying with us for good. He is a 1 year old Pomeranian x collie. On the thin side. He arrived with a bag of Harringtons but refuses to eat it. Got him Bakers on a whim which he wolfs down, but after research this is not the best. Any recommendations for a dry dog food for a fussy/active/ skinny little man?
Thanks

You'll get lots of food suggestions (I feed Barking Heads).

But the important thing is to feed the best quality you can afford.

Please can we have piccies??? It's the law!! 😃😃

Thank you both, not sure I can do pics on NHS comp :D. Happy to spend whatever on it. Just don't want to spend a fortune on something he turns his nose up at ! He looks like a little fox, so has been named Fantastic Mr Fox.

Sounds adorable! Do him a favour and put the Bakers in the bin! Not sure on your budget but where dry food is concerned I swear by either Eden or Millie's wolfheart.

Have ordered some samples of Akela so if he eats that I will order that. Will let him finish the Bakers, and the Harringtons is going to a lady at work

Thought I better test the water first and see what he likes then will order more. Read all the reviews and they were positive, and is good value as well so thank you!!

Oh pics needed, what a lucky chap. What does he do that is so awful that he was rehomed so many times? Have fun with him.

Bakers contains carcinogenics. I wouldn’t be feeding more of that.

Short term until you find something he likes, maybe try a wet food eg Wainwright’s trays from Pets at Home. Many dogs prefer wet. You could always try soaking the Harrington’s to make it more palatable.

Long term, how about raw? Try him with some turkey mince, just a mouthful to see if he likes it.

Not really keen to go down the raw route.
He bark. A lot!. He is quite insecure so if he can't see you he barks constantly with no let up. Also when walking past other dogs he barks constantly. Also barks at horses/sheep etc, although getting much better with that. We live down a single track road, so barking won't upset the neighbours, and walks don't meet other dogs. Barking at night is getting much better, and looking into classes in my area so he can learn not to bark at other dogs. Apart from that he is adorable!

Here you go

Please always keep your dog on a lead around sheep. My dog has excellent recall, but will still chase sheep.

You can have as many one to one's as you like. If they want to chase, they will.

What she said. He will never be able to be off lead with sheep in the area. I am glad the barking is improving.

Had the dog trainer out last night, and she thinks within a lot of time we can solve the problem, but might be up to a year or so. She thought that someone has trained him fairly well at some point, so we need to work on that. Also the barking at other dogs will be worked on. Been feeding him Barking Heads Fussy eater which he seems to be happy with.

Your bf wasn’t happy with him chasing sheep? Nor would the farmer be, he could have shot him. Please god keep him on a lead around any livestock, including horses etc.
