Does anyone have any advice on what to feed a 15.1hh 9yo irish cob this winter? She will have a full clip and will be stabled with a h/w rug on and turn-out for a few hours a day with a h/w rug on. She will be ridden about 5 days a week and another day lunged or long reined and having one or 2 days off. Ridden work will be a mix of hacking schooling and possibly jumping. She can be quite a fizzy and strong mare and she will be getting hay while shes in the stable

lots and lots of fibre!

you don't say what she's on now, but hay fed more or less ad lib, with a balancer may be enough if she's a really good doer.

my IDx hunts twice a week, and gets ad lib haylage, and ad lib speedibeet (soaked, obviously) overnight. He also gets full fat soya, alfa a oil, stud balancer and a few oats to give him a bit of spark when he's out. He is quite a good doer but is also working hard and quite excitable!

shes not on any hard feed at the moment as she is in a big field full of good grass so shes getting enough energy and keepin weight atm. I've only got her recently, in her old home she wasnt ridden and stabled most of the winter with ad lib hayledge. Would i be best feeding her alfa lite and speedi beet?
