Hi all,

Haven't been on for a while but have a new mare and need some expert advice from u lot :)

At the minute she is at a good weight going into winter, overweight if anything. I would b uncomfortable her getting bigger. She is in light work due to partner being in hospital and have a 1 year old daughter. This means riding or lunging 3 times a week.

The grass isn't great and have been giving her about 5 sections of hay throughout the day and has a lunch of hifi lite so I can give her general supplement as there really isn't anything good about the grass no more.

What are your thoughts on this? I have had a 3 year break from horses and have only had my girl 2 months. So just asking for some helpful friendly thoughts :)

Sounds ok to me, or you could just give her some Bailey's Lo Cal Balancer, you don;t need to feed any chaff with it.

If she needs to lose weight then maybe you could get a sharer for her and don;t rug!

Sounds fine.
inwould still feed hay but perhaps you could use a little less if u want her to drop a bit of weight. Mayb 1.5 slices in day and 2 slices at night and then put a.bit of low sugar sugar beat in feed (like quickbeat)?)

Thanks everyone for your comments - I think I will reduce the hay a tad and maybe include some speedibeat if needed when we get into the proper coldness :)
Thanks sugar and spice I actually realise he is useful sometimes when he's able bodied lol x x
