I will be the first to admit that I know very little when it comes to horse feed. I have been at uni for the last three years so my horses have only been in very light work and managed just fine on haylage and a few handfuls of nuts!
My mare (15.3hh 15 year old arab x welsh) has now been in full work for 3/4 months and is pretty fit. Work wise she is ridden daily for up to an hour mainly schooling with some hacking and the odd showjumping lesson or competition. Although fairly fit I still feel like she needs a bit more ooomps but without weight gain *she is currently her perfect weight*. So for the last month or so she has been getting one feed aday of alfa A and dodson and horrell competition mix. Unfortunatly my local feed merchant don't stock this and there is nowhere withing 25 miles for me to get it from. What they do have however is Dodson and Horrell performance concentrate. I have read the info on it and from what I can tell it seems ok. I don't want to go down the route however of having to add extra oats ect. I want to keep it as simple as possible so there is less of a chance of me messing it up! lol
So, for the purpose I mentioned, which sounds the best? And is alfa A ok to be feeding her?
