Feeding after riding

There is no reason not to, they should come back cooled down and relaxed anyway, or be walked until they are, then into the stable with water and hay to pick at while feed is prepared then fed. If they are not relaxed I would leave with hay until they have settled then feed.

I feed after riding so long as they are relaxed when they get back like be positive says. Normally by the time I've untacked and sponged down etc it's about 10 - 15 minutes before I've got the feed ready and both of mine are always happy to eat it & I've never had a problem.

I just feed the same as I would feed at any other time so a low starch/sugar hard feed mixed with a bit of fibre. There is always hay or haylage in my stables anyway so they normally pick on that until the feed is ready.

The only time I wouldn't feed after riding is if my horses are very hot & sweaty or very hyper - normally after hunting regardless of whether I have hacked back or boxed back. If they are sweated up & a bit silly I wouldn't feed for a few hours but when they are like this they don't want to eat anyway

Agree with the above.
I always walk my mare back to the yard so by the time we get back shes always cooled down, she has cup of fast fibre, vits and oil.
