Ty is a 6yr old mini shetland gelding. He is on limited grazing but doesnt seem to keep his weight when just fed hay. He does limited work with just 3-4 days a week of half hour walks in hand.I would like to feed a low calorie chaff with vits etc to just give him something whilst Inky has his tea and to help keep his weight. I have to worry about laminitis with him so can anyone recommend a good low calorie chaff. I was thinking about happy hoof, safe and sound or a dengie product but again they all look the same!!

We have a pony on loan that has had lami in the past he has a handfull of happy hoof in the morning and 2 carrots at night so he doesn't feel left out, he has his hay soaked as well.

I hadn't ever used happy hoof until we had him but he seems to do well on it.

Safe and Sound for my lami prone shettie, its lovely! He gets a couple of handfuls twice a day with some very watered down speedi-beet and a vit and min suplement. He is strip grazed with my other ponies and hasn't had laminitis now for 6 years

we use hi fi lite which is for laminitis prone horses/ponies. You only need a handful as a token gesture and maybe a mineral lick depending on your soil.

A friend feeds just the ration of TopSpec Light to her mare, no chaff or anything.

Could he have his weight sized ration of that or AntiLam? Then you know hes got all his vits and mins.
