Hi All,

I have just started my horse on antepsin and omeperazole and was just wondering how everyone feeds this?

I currently give the horse the antepsin and then wait half an hour before feeding. My routine will be as follows:

7am antepsin syringe
8am omeperazole
8.20 breakfast
3pm antepsin syringe
4pm dinner
7.30-8pm antepsin syringe

Is this how everyone else would do it? Vet said that there must be between 30-60 mins after the antepsin has been given before feeding and feed the omeperazole on an as empty as possible stomach too.

Any advice would be great? Don't want to be feeding it wrong and wasting money when it won't work properly.
Thanks

Having had to work out the same thing and persuade two different livery yards to help with it, I think you've got it pretty spot on to be honest. The trickiest one is the last dose, but hopefully your horse isn't as much of a piggy as mine and won't spend the whole time from dinner to dosage stuffing its face constantly with hay! If I were to make any adjustment it would be to give the omeprazole ten mins earlier so there's 30 mins before breakfast, but in reality 20 mins should be absolutely fine.
