Ok at the moment I feed a well known balancer but I want to change as I don't like the fact they use a lot of GM soya . The problem I have is the horse is really fussy ( after a stay in horse hospital everyone is trying to poison him ) he does not like powders and yes I have tried mint etc I will not add anything sugary which doesn't really work anyway as he hasn't had anything like that . He is fed now speedibeet , timothy chop & balancer . I need a good quality vit & min supplement I am not looking to add weight that is fine . I had thought about equimins advance but someone said it has a strong smell to it which could be an issue . I have tried TB daily essentials and most of it ends up on the floor and that is with no more than a teaspooon . Help please .

I contacted Equimins on Facebook and they sent me a sample of their Advance Complete to check if my horse will eat it. So maybe ask them for a sample.

it smells of bananas
but mine is really fussy and apart from one 6month period when he went off them and we switched the powder he eats them :). They are the best pelleted balancer IMO (though I add some maggnesium too) definitely ask for a sample equimins are very nice helpful people.

Fwiw agrobs feeds were a revelation for my fuss pot, apparently french grass is tastier than the british equivalents :rolleyes3:

Forage Plus are going to produce a pelleted balancer shortly - doing trials to check fussy horses will eat it. So if yours doesn't like equimins then worth giving FP a shout.

I use equimins advance. I have a fussy eater and 2 that will eat whatever is in their bucket. There is a note within the tub of equimins advance advising a slow introduction due to the smell. Mine are all on a half measure within a few days, even the fussy one. They also do a Pro-bio vits and mins which has less smell but i think thats only in powder form. I don't feed the advance complete at the full amount as they're on good quality hay and 24/7 turnout - kind of expecting them to be getting some vits/mins from normal feed so the balancer is just to top them up. they all look great on it.

Ive been researching balancers and vitamin supplements all afternoon. I am spending so much on various feeds for our 3 and wondering if I really NEED different balancers for all 3! Or if a good vit&min supplement would suffice for all 3 and work out more cost effective. Its a minefield. I currently use the global herbs Globalvite one for my veteran mare and it has no smell at all so I dont think any horse would notice it. I feel I've been slowly sucked in by balancer marketing......which is not like me!
