Where do I start?

I have 2 siamese x house cats that are a tad on the portly side - am currently feeding the Hills r/d diet to try and lose some weight, but the tiny amount you are meant to feed them leaves them so hungry! They are not hugely overweight, but fatter than I would really like them.

Is RAW a good option for them? If so, how do I start - what do I feed them other than chicken wings?!!

Thankies in advance :D

I would PM Varkie on here she has fed cats raw, they can be a bit of a problem sometimes but hers years ago loved it!

I have been feeding mine chicken wings, road kill pheasant, heart/kidneys, turkey drum sticks, they love it, mind u I find the more meat I feed the more they want:D

As KarynK says, I feed my cats raw, and have done for about eleven years now.

We feed chicken wings (most days), meat of all types (lamb, beef, chicken) minced with bone included (other days), offal - normally heart or liver or kidneys (no more than once a week, usually once a fortnight), fish - either tinned sardines or fresh whitebait or fresh sardines (as offal), eggs (also as offal), and (also as offal) we include veg in a mince mix now & then.

We found that they generally do best if introduced to the mince first, or you chop up the chicken wings for them to start with. If you feed offal, be careful which sorts - for example, pigs liver is very strong, and can put them off. If you feed fish, be careful what sorts - I'll never feed Herring again - that was a very unpleasant learning curve - projectile vomit, cats, Herring & carpets & sofas don't mix!

I have thought of doing this.
Egg gets (I know its not RAW) prawns, fish and anything she kills. My one fear about it now is that TT being Bengal might not be able to differentiate(sp) between the meat and my hand. His teeth are like razors and his claws...well they could easily rip through Bubs if he took the notion.

Years ago I bred and successfully showed British Shorthairs, they were fed raw, believe it or not very fresh ox tripe, that we minced ourselves. As those cats need to be "meaty" for showing everyone also had ad lib Iams dry available as well. Must say they did great on it,and no rotten teeth either.

I have wondered aout this as one of our cats has to be fought off the dogs raw food and if you leave a dead rabbit about he is unbelievale, you take your life in your hands getting it back off him!
I think I will try him on the chicken wings and rabbit first!
