Kiki has always suffered with hindgut issues and after meds and equishure he was fairly settled

After a field move this week he has been uncomfortable again and google suggested feeding charcoal. I'm at the point where I will try anything so ordered some thinking he likely wouldn't touch it because he's very very fussy. He wolfed it down, I've never seen him so keen to eat his tea! I'm yet to see if it has any affect but if it does I'm struggling to find any info on how long I can feed it for. Any advice please and thank you

When I had friends loan Fuzzy to stay, I was instructed by her owner to carry on giving her charcoal twice daily, she got a dicky tum to mild colic spasms if she went for more than a day without it. Like you, I expected her to not want to eat it, but it got shovelled in cheerfully. She had it for a number of years.

one of mine had colic a few weeks ago, gas (or in fact his lack of ability to pass gas) was causing a problem, bloating on his sides.
I started him on charcoal once a day and have been doing it ever since. It quickly appeared (saying that very very cautiously) that it made a lot of difference.
He gets is in the morning and his supplements at night. I think you are not supposed to feed meds and supps close to charcoal feeding.

I have absolutely no idea how long to carry on, I am playing it by ear, he is now a very different horse to ride.
Mine has no problem eating it, wolfs it down.

Looking forward to any other replies you get.
