Hi everyone just wanted to know what people feed there cobs on? Do you feed all year round? and if not when do you stop?
I know it depends on what work they are doing ect. But lets say a horse that gets ridden 3 times a week.

Mine get worked 4 days a week and are a gypsy cob and a clydesdale (well she is a heavy horse but cobs are very similar). They are both rising 6 and still growing.

Farra - two stubbs scoops of just grass, mug of dry speedibeet, mug of linseed, mug of black sunflower seeds, and supplements - in summer she has one scoop of just grass.

Chancer - Has the same, but one of just grass and a small scoop of conditioning or high fibre cubes depending on how he looks.

They are fed this twice a day.

They have ad lib stalky hay in winter and short grazing in summer.

harvey HW cob
worked 6 days a week

regular SJ and dressage lessons

hacking few times a week
and schooling/lunging

fed scoop of oats handful of chop & carrots PM

handful of chop & handful of oats AM

My very good doer MW cob, 8 years old, ridden 5 days a week, top end of light work, per day, split between 2 feeds, 1 scoop hi fi good doer, i scoop very very watery dengi alfa beet, garlic, sunflower oil and maintenance dose of red cell.

I have a 13.2 coloured cob in heavy work (ridden 6 days pw, competed, hunted in season etc)

He gets...

1/2 - 3/4 scoop Bailey's No 2 + handful of Hi Fi Lite per feed. (Two feeds per day)
Something succulent. (A carrot or something)
3KGs haylage or damp hay at night. Turn out during the day.
NAf Mudguard
NAF EnerG if he needs it.

The reccommended amount of bailey's for his height and work load is 3 scoops per day but if I fed him that he'd explode! We have used Pink Powder in the past and I think we'll need to go back to some sort of vit / min supplement becuase we are under the reccommended amount.

My two cobs get a scoop of alpha-a with small handful of cool mix in the morning, and a scoop of happy hoof in the evening in winter. In the summer they just have a small amount of happy hoof and I occasionally buy them a Dengie Field Lick to put in the field.
